In the spring 2009, the University of Kansas Medical Center was awarded with the
Training Program in Neurological and Rehabilitation Sciences. Funded by the National Institutes of Health, this T32 grant was created by a high-caliber team of researchers and graduate student mentors led by Randolph J. Nudo, PhD. It provides interdisciplinary training in translational research in basic and clinical aspects of neuroscience with a focus on neurological conditions amenable to rehabilitative treatments. This program will produce well-trained scientists with highly promising careers in rehabilitation research.
A stipend and training related expenses for up to three years will be provided.
This grant is aimed at recruiting outstanding students to study in the areas of neurological rehabilitation and was specifically written with students in the KU PhD in Rehabilitation Science program in mind. Candidates must be US citizens or permanent residents and meet the eligibility requirements for admission to this program. For additional details please contact the PhD program director, Dr. Irina V. Smirnova.
In the summer of 2009, one PhD student became fully funded and four DPT students obtained summer fellowship funding.
