Professional Background
Dr. Loudon is the Director of the
Post Professional DPT program, a program that allows current physical therapists to pursue a DPT. She has over 20 publications from peered review journals and has authored a text from Human Kinetics entitled “Clinical Orthopedic Reference Guide”, now in its second edition.
Dr. Loudon's major teaching emphasis is in the areas of kinesiology and orthopedics. She is responsible for teaching applied kinesiology and biomechanics, as well as musculoskeletal physical therapy, in the
DPT curriculum.
Academic Background
Dr. Loudon first began her academic studies at the KU Medical Center by earning a Bachelor of Science in physical therapy from the University of Kansas in 1982. Subsequently, Dr. Loudon moved to KU's Lawrence, Kan., campus to complete a Master of Science in exercise physiology and later received her PhD in Biomechanics from the Movement Science Program at Washington University in St. Louis, Mo. In 1987 she returned to the Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Science program as a faculty member.
Research Focus
Dr. Loudon’s research interest is in the area of pathomechanics and athletic injuries. Specifically, she is interested in the effect of static and dynamic postures on the incidence of knee injuries in the female.
